Bilingual Reading from Duckworth’s Disorderly Conduct

Lecture bilingue du bout du monde avec Mia Farlane et Kristen Phillips BM de Lille, France

Lecture bilingue du bout du monde avec Mia Farlane et Kristen Phillips — Bibliothèque Municipale de Lille, France.

For a nationwide library event in France, ‘les Nuits de la lecture’ Kristen Phillips and I were invited to read (en français and in English) from my mother Marilyn Duckworth’s novel Disorderly Conduct (NZ Book Award for Fiction, 1984).

Thank you, Christelle Didier, for help with the translation. Et grand merci to the Bibliothèque municipale de Lille for inviting Kristen and me to read.

I also spoke briefly about growing up with a mother who is a writer - and about my poet aunt Fleur Adcock and writer grandmother., Irene Adcock.

Here's a link to the Lille library page where you find the 15-minute video, as well as links to Kristen’s book review of The Hobbit by Tolkien and my review of Auē by Becky Manawatu.
