For World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD🎗️), I wanted to draw your attention to two quite different books on the subject.
The Sound Inside: Adam Rapp — fiction or reality
The Sound Inside, a play by Adam Rapp and directed by Stella Reid — excellent acting, a tight performance. I loved the emotional intelligence and subtle humour around a writer’s take on life’s serious and ludicrous moments. Also, the blurred boundaries around fiction and reality.
Bilingual Reading from Duckworth’s Disorderly Conduct
For a nationwide library event in France, ‘les Nuits de la lecture’, Kristen Phillips and I read (en français and in English) from Marilyn Duckworth's novel Disorderly Conduct (NZ Book Award for Fiction, 1984).
